STATEMENT
My work is deeply rooted in storytelling, with a focus on the female figure, primarily women of color as a powerful vehicle for expression. Through these depictions, I explore the full spectrum of empowerment and vulnerability, using figurative elements, symbolism, color, texture, and composition to communicate my perspective on contemporary Mexican culture, which serves as a central source of inspiration. The characters within my narratives are each complex, embodying diverse emotions and personal histories, lending richness to their mysterious portrayals.
A significant element of my artistic journey is an immersion in my cultural heritage and social engagement, allowing memories to shape my creations organically rather than adhering to fixed narratives. I am particularly inspired by the intersection between fashion and fine arts, which fuels my fascination with texture and color. My background in fashion designer enriches this process, adding layers to my exploration of visual storytelling. Oil paint is my primary medium, but I have recently begun experimenting with new materials, including epoxy clay, resins, and cold wax, to expand my expressive range and enhance the tactile experience of my work.
This transition from fashion to fine arts has allowed me to find and develop my creative voice, translating my background into a unique, textured style that continues to grow. Through these materials and themes, I aim to evoke a sense of cultural continuity and personal identity, capturing both timeless tradition and modern innovation.
